BJP MP Gautam Gambhir on Thursday inaugurated a ballistic separator as a part of the pilot project to reduce the height of Ghazipur landfill.
As per details shared by Gambhir, the pilot project initiated at the Ghazipur landfill will be operated on older garbage, while for the fresh garbage will be handled by methods of segregation and solid waste management.
Gambhir said, "It is Asia's biggest landfill. It will take time to get reduced. Hopefully, it can be a success. We will then make bigger plants."
The machine will work on the old garbage so that the height of the landfill gets reduced. For fresh garbage, we will do segregation and solid waste management.

The project engineer Arun Kumar further shared that the ballistic separator inaugurated by Gambhir yesterday shall segregate the entire waste into four separate categories like pebbles, glass, plastic and two different types of soils, which would help in further handing of each type of waste separately.
